About Niko LaPelusa

Niko is a biochemist, movement & jiu jitsu coach who helps people build strong, capable, and resilient bodies—so they can move with confidence, freedom, and longevity.
With over 15 years of experience across jiu jitsu, yoga, Pilates, strength training, and dance Niko blends systems and play to create healthy, balanced and strong bodies. He is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Atos HQ, a certified yoga and Pilates instructor, a Poliquin Level 1 strength coach, and has trained under world-renowned movement educator Ido Portal.
Niko has coached over 1,000 classes and worked individually with beginners and professionals athletes . His approach goes beyond workouts—it’s about teaching you how your body moves, where it’s restricted, and how to rebuild strength, coordination, and athleticism from interoception. Niko's education and professional exp as a chemist makes him a unique health concierge. specializing in longevity and healthspan
Niko founded a successful Jiu Jitsu academy in San Diego, has amassed 400k followers on social media and has created and founded movement festivals & retreats.
Mission
At the heart of his mission is supporting the return of bison to the American landscape. Bison play a vital role in regenerating soil, strengthening ecosystems, and creating healthier food systems from the ground up.
Their presence restores balance—not just to the land, but to the way we relate to it.
Through his art, movement and business, Niko actively supports bison restoration efforts by contributing to and promoting organizations doing this work on the ground, including the Yellowstone Bison Restoration Program and the InterTribal Buffalo Council.
Niko's Mission is to found a bison retreat which aims to retore the bison population to 1M in North America by 2050.
